Marly Cain’s Amazing Micronautic Adventures®
We’re making some major site changes right now.
Meanwhile, you can visit our Ten Online Microscope Workstations, or
learn how microscopes work.
So what happened to Marly’s site?
When Marly created the site in 1997, our Web host provided a script processor called, MivaScript (aka HTMLScript). Marly wrote all of her pages to utilize this scripting engine. It provided much of the interactive functionality of her pages.
Recently, our Web host decided to discontinue use of the MivaScript engine, but provided PHP as an alternative. We were notified in November 2011 that MivaScript would no longer be available. That meant we have to convert the 8000+ MV pages Marly created in MivaScript to PHP. This is no small undertaking!
Eventually, all of the pages will be converted. Some will lose their original interactivity due to extreme differences in the features of the scripting engines. We had originally intended to convert all of the pages before reposting them. It is taking much longer to convert them than anticipated, so we have decided to repost them a section at a time, as we complete the conversion.
